Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about using Basketball Alpha.

Reading the data

The official injury report is published by the NBA and is the authoritative status for each listed player. Reporting comes from reporters and team sources, often earlier. Reporting keeps its source and time, sits beside the official status, and never replaces it.
An expected lineup is a sourced estimate before the league posts the starters. Expected players and their source are Pro context. An NBA-confirmed lineup is published by the league, includes its posting time, and is Free. If confirmation is pending, the page says pending.
These labels apply only to pregame reporting. Active means no later official update has settled the report. Confirmed means a later official update matched it. Contradicted means a later official update disagreed.
In-game reports appear newest first with their source, time, and game-clock context. The NBA does not publish an in-game injury report, so there is no official report to confirm or contradict them. They never receive Active, Confirmed, or Contradicted labels.
Before tip, Overview shows the official injury report and NBA-confirmed lineups for Free, with pregame reporting beside them for Pro. During and after the game, those official pregame facts remain visible and in-game reporting stays separate. Box Score, Play-by-Play, and Rotations have their own tabs.
An actual is something that happened and was recorded, such as minutes, stints, or points. Actuals are Free. A baseline summarizes recent completed games so you can compare patterns. Baselines are Pro and never predict the rest of a live game.

Research workflow

Use the global search for a Player or Team. Use Players and Teams to browse the league, Injuries to scan availability, and Games to open a full matchup. Those four destinations lead to the deeper tabs for each entity or game.
Availability shows both teams for one game, grouped by who may play and what changed. A Player page stays focused on one player: current status, games, injuries, rotations, scenarios, and lines.
Each block is one continuous stint on the court. The stripe shows when the player entered and left, while the value at the end shows the selected stat total. A Now marker separates completed live minutes from time that has not happened yet.
Date picks a day or game. An exact season shows only that season and may be empty. L5, L10, and L30 use the latest eligible games and may cross seasons; the page shows the contributing dates or seasons. Latest season with data is labeled when used, and All seasons is a deliberate history view.
Select Favorite on a Player or Team header. Green stars mark favorites across search, directories, Home, Injuries, and Games. Favorites can change priority and shortcuts, but never hide the full slate or unlock Pro data.

Access and account

You can browse Free Players, Teams, Injuries, Games, FAQ, Glossary, Privacy, and Terms without signing in. Free research includes official facts and recorded actuals. Protected Pro analysis and data require a Pro subscription.
A verified account can save Player and Team Favorites, keep account settings, start an eligible trial, and manage Pro billing.
Verification confirms that the address belongs to you before Favorites, trials, billing, or other account changes are allowed. If the message does not arrive, check spam and use Resend email on Account.
Yes. Use Google on the sign-in or sign-up screen, or connect it from Account. Google provides only the identity and email needed to sign you in or link your account. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Plans and billing

Pro adds customer-facing reporting and source context, historical injury research, rotation baselines, full Scenario controls, and Lines research. Free keeps official facts, recorded actuals, and the fixed L10 Minutes Scenario preview. Internal administrator betting and operations tools are not part of Pro.
Basketball Alpha offers one Pro plan for $14.99 USD/month. It renews automatically each month until canceled. Create and verify a Free account first. Eligible first-time customers can start one 14-day trial with no card. The cardless trial does not charge or convert on its own. If you add a payment method during the active trial, the first charge is scheduled for the original trial end; otherwise you can choose to subscribe later from Account Billing.
Cancel from Account Billing through the Stripe billing portal before the next renewal. Cancellation stops that renewal. Pro stays active through the paid-through date, then the account returns to Free. Your account and Favorites remain, and you can resume before the period ends when the portal offers that option.
Open Account Billing to start a trial, subscribe, view access status, or open the Stripe billing portal for payment and cancellation changes. Receipts are sent by email.
Pro is digital access delivered immediately after a successful payment, so there is no shipping or physical return. Fees are generally nonrefundable after access is granted, except where law requires otherwise. Confirmed duplicate or erroneous charges are refunded to the original payment method; contact support if you see one.
Stripe Checkout securely handles card entry and payment processing. Basketball Alpha does not receive or store your full card number. The accepted card marks shown near pricing and Account Billing reflect the card networks enabled for checkout.
